“Counselling offers a safe relaxed space, time to talk and think about your worries or difficulties with a professionally trained psychological therapist.”

About my Counselling Services

A Person-Centred therapist will have undergone their own personal development as a mandatory part of their training. This means that it is a requirement that they have therapy themselves, in order to be able to work with their clients, congruently and empathically, without judgement. They are able to put themselves in your shoes and look at the feelings and emotions you may be experiencing or have experienced.

Sometimes our troubles can consume us, counselling is about developing a persons self awareness which in turn leads to the ability to make changes. Our past or present experiences can impact on the way in which we handle things in life, we can become overloaded manifesting feelings such as anxiety or depression.

Counselling offers a safe environment where there is a contract of confidentiality between the Counsellor and their client. Click here to view our Privacy Policy.

Online counselling service

I am not able to provide online counselling to any person who is under the age of 18. If this applies to you I can help with information on referral to other agencies providing face-to-face counselling services or online work which is specifically directed to a younger age group.

What does the online counselling service offer?

We will agree an ‘appointment day’ this could be weekly, fortnightly or more frequently if required. We will need to be specific as to the frequency of communication, a single communication where I will respond to a single email is classed as a single session. Feel free to spend adequate time when writing your email and I will spend the equivalent time (of at least 50 mins) of a face to face session in response. As I will need some time to read your previous email and consider a response, I will endeavour to respond to you within 48 hours of receipt of your email (unless I receive your email on a weekend, where I will respond the following week).

What happens if I have to cancel the appointment, or I have computer/connection problems which prevent me keeping the appointment?

If you have made payment for a session but are unable to meet at the appointed day due to unexpected circumstances, we would discuss how to re-arrange the scheduled appointment.  I require 24 hours notice of a cancellation. In the event of a serious accident, emergency, or other similar situation outside your control, please deal with your situation first and notify me at the earliest convenient time. If I do not hear from you within 24 hours of the appointment day, I will retain the fee.

Counselling Session Fees

Online Counselling: Agreed fee for this contract is £50 per session for individuals, £55 per session for couples.

Confidentiality and Security

The content of your emails will not be communicated with a third party except for the purposes of the supervision of my work. In this instance your identity will not be revealed. At the end of our email agreement a paper copy of the exchanges of emails will be stored securely offline for a period of 5 years and then destroyed by shredding after this time. No electronic records will be stored after the ending of counselling.

I am legally bound to make disclosure to the police authorities if a client reveals that they are at serious risk of causing harm to others. In addition, if at any point during the counselling you were in need of emergency support, I may ask for your consent to contact your GP.

All personal information disclosed will be kept confidential and not used for any purposes other than a counselling record. All client material is treated in complete confidence and is removed from my computer at the end of our work together.

If you share a computer or you are using a computer at work (remember your employer has the legal right to read all emails sent to or from a workplace computer email address) I suggest you open a new email address at whether you are planning live sessions or emails and send and store emails away from the computer you are using.

Maintaining the privacy of your online communications with a Counsellor

Please ensure that you secure your computer and emails against unauthorised viewing by third parties. This may include adopting the use of password protection for all personal email accounts and documents etc. It is recommended that you do not engage in online counselling using a public computer where the content of exchanges could be viewed by others in the close proximity.

Email counselling:

I suggest we send each other encrypted emails at You can set up a free email address at their website. Having a separate address for our work means counselling emails don’t come into your main Inbox (just an alert from safe-mail to tell you when there’s an email waiting) and you can leave it all behind at the end. If you are looking for email counselling please send me your safe-mail address when you return this Agreement.

For live sessions:

I am happy to work with you in a private chatroom on Skype which has a high level of encryption and offers sufficient confidentiality and security for our work. If you share a computer and Skype account, I suggest you open a separate Skype account just for our work and keep the login details private. We can use audio or webcam if you are confident you will not be disturbed or overheard and if you wish to review a session I can make a recording available to you. Transcripts of live text sessions are held encrypted on the Skype server. When you log into Skype you can access your personal conversation history and re-read our text chat if you wish.
